Kanematsu Corporation (hereinafter “Kanematsu”) will hold a cyber security training program provided by Global Security Experts Inc. (hereinafter “GSX”) for around 2,000 Kanematsu Group officers and employees to develop and strengthen human resources for cyber security. As the first step, each employee will acquire knowledge and develop awareness about cyber security. Our goal is to satisfy the demand for cyber security services from our 20,000 plus business partners by leveraging our Group’s integrated management structure.
■Background
Cyber-attacks occur everywhere on varying scales, constantly becoming more sophisticated and making the daily headlines. The number of targeted companies and organizations has been increasing every year, with the scope and content of security measures constantly changing. Cyber security is an urgent priority, because a successful cyber-attack on a single company could lead to disruption across the entire supply chain due to reasons such as secondary damage to business partners and suspension of manufacturing.
It is against this backdrop that, in April 2024, Kanematsu teamed up with WERU Investment Co., Ltd., Kanematsu Electronics Ltd. (hereinafter “KEL”), and GSX to create the Nippon Cyber Security Fund 1 Investment Limited Partnership, the first fund in Japan to specially invest in security companies, with the aim of invigorating Japan’s security industry and protecting the country from cyber-attacks.
One of our basic policies in the three-year medium-term management plan launched in April 2024, “integration 1.0,” is to become “a solution provider leading the transformation of efficient and sustainable supply chains.” The term “efficient” means the optimization of supply chains through assisting our business partners to mitigate the IT security risks associated with DX.
■ Around 2,000 Group personnel slated to participate: Developing human resources for cyber security to achieve DX support services
Addressing security risks is an essential part of DX support services for business partners. Officers and sales employees will be the main target of GSX’s online Zero Trust Coordinator Training Program. The aim is for them to understand the zero trust model––no one is unconditionally trustworthy, whether internally or externally––and be able to provide customers with DX/security-related proposals based on a common idea.
A total of 830 personnel are scheduled to complete the training program by September 2024; around 600 from Group companies KEL and Nippon Office Systems Ltd. have already taken it. Moving forward, we will work with KEL and GSX to further expand the scope of participants from our Group so as to ultimately surpass the 2,000 mark. Our Group will keep working as one to develop human resources toward providing the optimal security solutions to our 20,000 plus invaluable business partners.
