We are happy to announce that Kanematsu Corporation (head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Yoshiya Miyabe; hereinafter “Kanematsu”) and NTT Rental Engineering Co., Ltd. (head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President : Takeshi Arai; hereinafter “NTT REC”) have delivered EV chargers manufactured by EVAR Inc. (hereinafter “EVAR”) to a customer in Japan. The products have already been installed and will come into operation on October 2, 2024. This is the first time an EVAR product has been delivered to a customer in the Japanese market for commercial purposes*. Building on this first step, Kanematsu and NTT REC will work together to advance the development of EV charging infrastructure in Japan.
*EVAR chargers have been installed for pilot projects at two locations in Japan. However, this is the first time that a charger has been installed in Japan for commercial purposes (based on a survey by EVAR as of October 1, 2024).
■ Background
Since Kanematsu and EVAR signed a memorandum of understanding for expanding sales of EVAR EV chargers in the Japanese and global markets in June 2024, Kanematsu and NTT REC have been cooperating toward introducing EVAR products to the Japanese market. Toward achieving our shared goal of advancing decarbonization and sustainability through EV charging infrastructure development and EV adoption in Japan, we have been exploring opportunities to jointly expand sales of EVAR EV chargers and collaborate in other EV charging services. This has led to our first EV charger delivery/installation. We will continue to contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society through our collaborative relationship.
