Basic Policy for Occupational Health and Safety

We believe that occupational health and safety is one of the most important prerequisites for moving our business activities forward. We commit to maintaining an environment in which employees and all stakeholders involved in our activities can continue to work with peace of mind through the following:

  • Creating an environment where employees can work safely and comfortably for both mind and body
  • Complying with all laws and regulations related to occupational health and safety
  • Raising awareness of occupational safety and health through education and dissemination

Occupational Health & Safety

Occupational Health and Safety Promotion System - Occupational Health Committee -

We have established the Occupational Health Committee to protect employee health and foster a cheerful work environment. Operating under the supervision of the General Manager of Health and Safety (the General Manager of the Human Resources Department), the committee comprises industrial physicians, occupational health managers, employees recommended by the Company, and employees recommended by the labor union. The committee meets once a month, with labor and management jointly discussing and promoting related measures while receiving advice from industrial physicians. Meeting minutes are posted on the Company intranet as needed to keep all employees informed and educated.

Training on health and safety

We conduct various training programs on health and safety. For new employees, we provide training on health and safety by the industrial physicians. For newly appointed managers, we offer training on line care, which focuses on guiding and managing their subordinates to maintain their health.

Occupational health and safety in the supply chain

In December 2008, we established the "Supply Chain CSR Action Guidelines" to emphasize our concern for occupational health and safety in our supply chain. We notify suppliers that we do business with to understand our thoughts and be encouraged to put the guidelines into practice, by "Striving to provide a safe, hygienic, and healthy working environment for employees," and "Preparing and disseminating emergency response measures for disasters, accidents, and other emergencies to protect the life and physical safety of employees."

Initiatives for prevention and control of global health issues

Our company is committed to the prevention and control of global health issues such as the three major infectious diseases (HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria) and COVID-19. As part of these efforts, we provide employees posted overseas and their families with local medical information at pre-transfer training, as well as recommending vaccinations, providing local medical support, and communicating infectious disease-related information to all employees as needed.

Response to occupational accidents

We strive to prevent occupational accidents on a daily basis, but in the unlikely event of an accident, we ensure that it is promptly reported to the Human Resources Department and that measures are taken to prevent its recurrence. Accidents and disasters that occurs are promptly reported and dealt with not only by the Company, but also by its affiliates.
The occurrence of occupational accidents is reported to the Board of Directors on a regular basis.
The number of work-related accidents, excluding commuting accidents was 7 cases for FY2024. The causes of these accidents were "7 cases of minor injuries". No fatalities or lost time incidents occurred.
